Crypto exchange BitMEX sued for £20 million in the UK

A software engineer has filed a claim in the UK against crypto exchange BitMEX, seeking £20 million (about SEK 264 million) for bitcoin said to have been lost on financial derivatives, Dagens PS reports, citing The Guardian. The claim alleges that BitMEX sold unregulated financial products to UK investors without authorisation from the Financial Conduct Authority, and that such contracts may therefore be void under UK law. HDR Global Trading, which owns BitMEX, declined to comment on the case, and a representative said the claim has not yet been formally served.
