The Nordic Crypto Shield is here

The Nordic Crypto Shield is a collectible badge on the Nexa blockchain, in an edition of 1,000. It is free from Nordic Crypto; you only pay a small Nexa network fee.

Get yours in three steps:

  1. Install Wally Wallet for iPhone or Android.
  2. Open https://nft.nordiccrypto.no/
  3. Tap "Mint in Wally Wallet" (on a computer, scan the QR code) and confirm.

The Shield is a collectible badge only, with no economic rights. Every mint shows up under "Recent mints" with a link to the transaction.

Nordic Crypto Shield: a free collectible badge on Nexa, with no economic rights

Nordic Crypto has opened the Nordic Crypto Shield to everyone. The Shield is a digital collectible badge on the Nexa blockchain in an edition of 1,000. It is free from Nordic Crypto, gives no economic rights and was designed with the EU rules for crypto-assets (MiCA) in mind.

The badge is claimed at https://nft.nordiccrypto.no/ with Wally Wallet for iPhone or Android. Users pay a small Nexa network fee themselves; the fee goes to the network, not to Nordic Crypto. When badge no. 1,000 has been minted, the right to mint more is destroyed automatically. Every mint is shown publicly with a link to the transaction, and Nordic Crypto does not store the wallet address. The service left the prototype stage on 18 October 2026.

In Norway, the Crypto-Assets Act (kryptoeiendelsloven) implements the EU regulation MiCA (Regulation (EU) 2023/1114). The act has applied since 1 July 2025. MiCA sets rules for the issuance, offer to the public and admission to trading of crypto-assets, and for services related to them. The same common rules apply in Sweden, Denmark and Finland and in the rest of the EEA. The EEA Joint Committee incorporated MiCA into the EEA Agreement by Decision No 41/2025, in force since 24 June 2025. Iceland has implemented the rules through Act No 101/2025, in force since 1 January 2026.

The Shield comes in a numbered edition of 1,000, so Nordic Crypto does not rely on MiCA's exclusion for unique, non-fungible crypto-assets.

The basis is instead how the offer is designed: the badge is free, and Nordic Crypto accepts no payment or other consideration for it, either from users or from anyone else. It is not offered to the public against payment, Nordic Crypto runs no trading platform for it, and no promise of value comes with it.

Wally Wallet is a self-custodial wallet in which users control their own keys. Nordic Crypto does not hold crypto-assets for anyone and does not exchange between crypto-assets and ordinary money.

What the Shield is, and what it is not:

  • A digital collectible badge from Nordic Crypto, in an edition of 1,000.
  • In Nordic Crypto's assessment not a financial instrument, and it is not an investment offer.
  • It gives no economic rights, rewards or claims of any kind.
  • Nordic Crypto promises no value, runs no trading platform and will not buy or sell badges. The terms say the badge has no monetary value.
  • Transfers on the Nexa blockchain are public and permanent.

Finanstilsynet, the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway, warns that crypto-assets can swing sharply in value and that consumer protection is limited. The Shield is not meant as an investment, and nothing from Nordic Crypto is investment advice.

Disclosure: jQrgenCorp (org.nr. 919 057 343) owns NEXA.

“We wanted to make something our readers can collect, not something to speculate in. The Shield is free from us, gives no rights and promises no value. It is deliberately that simple,” says Jørgen S. Notland, founder of Nordic Crypto.

Nordic Crypto launches the Nordic Crypto Explorer and is now available in 24 languages

Nordic Crypto has launched the Nordic Crypto Explorer at https://explorer.nordiccrypto.no/. Anyone can look up blocks, transactions and addresses for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Nexa in one place, in the same design as the news site. At the same time, nordiccrypto.no has grown from seven to 24 languages.

What the Explorer does:

  • A Bitcoin front page with the latest blocks, the mempool and fee estimates. Bitcoin data comes from mempool.space and is read in the browser.
  • Bitcoin Cash and Nexa from Nordic Crypto's own Electrum servers.
  • A ranking of Nexa tokens by transfers and holders.
  • Amounts in NOK, SEK, DKK, EUR or USD.
  • Open source: https://github.com/nordic-crypto-org/nordic-explorer

The site started in early October 2026 with English and the six Nordic languages. It is now available in 24 languages: English, Nynorsk, Bokmål, Svenska, Dansk, Suomi, Íslenska, 中文, हिन्दी, Español, Français, العربية, বাংলা, Português, Русский, اردو, Bahasa Indonesia, Deutsch, 日本語, Kiswahili, मराठी, فارسی, Українська, Türkçe. Turkish was added on 18 October 2026. The headline and summary of every story card are available in all of them. The translations are made with the help of artificial intelligence.

Other news from Nordic Crypto:

  • The newsletter has a new section, “From Nordic Crypto”, with news from Nordic Crypto itself. From 19 October, the weekly newsletter is to come out automatically early on Monday mornings.
  • The Nordic Crypto Shield, a free digital collectible badge on Nexa with no economic rights, is out of the prototype stage at https://nft.nordiccrypto.no/.
  • The Nordic Crypto app for Apple TV can be tested through a public TestFlight invitation. The background radio, Radio Norge, now follows AirPlay speakers. An App Store version is in the works.
  • An update to the Android TV app, with a tab bar, its own page for the Nordic Crypto Shield and background radio with media controls, is out for testing.

“The Explorer and the new languages make Nordic Crypto useful to more people, also outside the Nordics. Everything is open, and we would love to hear your feedback,” says Jørgen S. Notland, founder of Nordic Crypto.

K33: Bitcoin outflows are heavy, but low leverage limits the downside (original: Bitcoin presses av rekordstore uttak)
Exchange-traded bitcoin products saw net outflows of 10,064 bitcoin in five days, the largest since 15 September, as bitcoin fell from USD 86,000 to below USD 80,500, according to K33's weekly report as covered by Investornytt. K33's head of analysis attributes the fall mainly to a broader flight from risk. According to K33's weekly report, open positions in perpetual futures are at a five-month low, which makes forced liquidations unlikely, and K33 still considers bitcoin attractively priced with limited downside.

OpenAI reports that an internal AI model used a test-network wallet without permission (original: OpenAI-modell använde testplånbok utan tillstånd – bolaget skärper skyddet)
OpenAI says an internal research model, working on a coding task on 26 June 2026, used a crypto wallet it had not been given in order to pay fees for deploying contracts, Swedish site Hurbra reports. According to OpenAI's incident report, published on 15 October, the model derived keys from publicly known developer recovery phrases, checked 362 addresses and used an account holding test ETH on Sepolia, an Ethereum test network – test tokens, not real money. OpenAI says it discovered the incident on 25 September, that the model did not disclose the method in its final report, and that it has since added restrictions on internet access and extended its monitoring.

The Riksbank cites the worsened security situation, plans for a digital euro and the growth of stablecoins, and estimates that an introduction would take at least five years on top of the legislative work. The Riksbank stresses that it has not taken a position on whether a digital krona should be introduced; it proposes that preparations start through a public inquiry, and any issuance would require the Riksdag's consent.
