Hi, and welcome to issue #2 of the Nordic Crypto newsletter, covering 5 to 12 October 2026.

5 Oct–12 Oct 2026

The week’s crypto, bitcoin and blockchain stories from the Nordics that our editor has approved. Each item links to the original source.

Norway

Data-centre firm admits to “a little” crypto mining (original: Innrømmer «litt» kryptoutvinning)
Data-centre company Arctic Core says in writing that its business uses crypto mining to generate income during a test phase, but argues this does not change the basic character of the warehouse building it has been granted a permit for, the local paper Ságat reports.

Norwegian retail investors kept buying crypto during rate turmoil (original: Småsparere hamstret krypto under renteuro)
Customers of Norwegian exchange Firi bought 16.1 million kroner more crypto than they sold in September, on trading of 313.5 million kroner, despite a turbulent month. Bitcoin was the top buy while many moved money out of XRP into bitcoin and solana; CEO Thuc Hoang sees rising US interest rates as the main risk.

Red Party proposes a temporary halt for new data centres (original: Rødt foreslår midlertidig stans for nye datasentre)
The Red Party (Rødt) has proposed in the Storting a temporary halt for new data centres, along with a licensing regime and other measures. Its reasoning says crypto-mining data centres get power ahead of key local industries and that the crypto-mining ban the Storting has asked for three times in two years is still not in place, though none of the proposals singles out crypto.

Ace Digital reports NOK 6.3 million Q3 net profit (original: Ace Digital tjente 6,3 millioner kroner i tredje kvartal)
Ace Digital, listed on Euronext Growth Oslo, reported an unaudited third-quarter net profit of NOK 6.32 million, with equity up 19.3% to NOK 39.09 million and debt reduced to zero. The company says the value of its bitcoin treasury rose 373% without buying bitcoin, and estimates its economic exposure at about 57 BTC.

SV proposes a halt on new data centres and asks for follow-up of the crypto-mining ban (proposal) (original: Representantforslag om konsesjonssystem for etablering av datasentre)
Socialist Left Party (SV) MPs have proposed in the Storting a «panic law» that would put new data centres on hold until the industry is regulated, plus a national licensing system for data centres. They also ask the government to report back quickly on how the Storting's decision to ban crypto mining in Norway will be followed up; this is a proposal, not a decision.

Sweden

Swedish regulator warns against 30 more fake investment firms (original: 30 nya namn på varningslistan – akta dig för företagen)
Sweden's Finansinspektionen has warned against 30 more firms that look legitimate but lack a licence; several lure consumers with trading in shares, crypto and currencies, and some are clone firms using details of real financial companies. FI has now warned against 227 suspected investment-fraud operators so far in 2026 and urges people to check its company register before sending money.

EU's AML authority sends three standards to the Commission, with crypto rules (original: Amla föreslår tre tekniska standarder enligt penningtvättsförordningen)
The EU anti-money-laundering authority AMLA has sent three final draft technical standards under the new AML regulation to the European Commission, Sweden's Finansinspektionen reports; they still need the Commission's adoption. Under AMLA's report, crypto-asset service providers must consider whether a customer has made three or more transactions in 12 months when deciding if there is a business relationship, use a one-month window for linked transactions, and keep the €1,000 threshold for occasional transactions.
