Binance paused withdrawals on 29 October 2026 while investigating a security incident, and later stopped all deposits and withdrawals. Estimates of the possible losses range from about 5.8 to 6.3 billion US dollars, depending on the source: Investornytt cites about 5.8 billion in wallets labelled by Arkham, while VG and B.T. report 6.3 billion; the figures are not confirmed. Binance says user funds are safe and that it will cover all losses, and its preliminary findings point to a compromised employee computer that gave access to a service container, with no evidence that private keys were leaked.
