Finanstilsynet implements MiCA level 2 rules on fines for significant token issuers

Original title (Norwegian): Gjennomføring av nivå 2-regelverk under MiCA

Finanstilsynet has adopted an amendment to Norway's crypto-asset regulation (kryptoeiendelsforskriften) that implements Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1504 in Norwegian law, the Norwegian FSA announces. The EU regulation sets procedural rules for how the European Banking Authority imposes fines or periodic penalty payments on issuers of significant asset-referenced tokens and significant e-money tokens. According to Finanstilsynet, the EEA Agreement adapts the regulation so that the EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) holds this power over firms established in the EEA/EFTA states.
