Red Party proposes a temporary halt for new data centres

Original title (Norwegian): Rødt foreslår midlertidig stans for nye datasentre

The Red Party (Rødt) has proposed in the Storting a temporary halt for new data centres, along with a licensing regime and other measures. Its reasoning says crypto-mining data centres get power ahead of key local industries and that the crypto-mining ban the Storting has asked for three times in two years is still not in place, though none of the proposals singles out crypto.

Summaries are our own, written in English from the headline and the public teaser. We do not reproduce article text and we do not get around paywalls. Stories marked “may require a subscription” are from outlets with a paywall. The headline is in the language of this page. When the source wrote it in another language, that headline is shown underneath. Nothing here is investment advice.
