Circle shareholder sues Trump and World Liberty Financial over UAE-linked crypto deals

Original title (Swedish): Circle-aktieägare stämmer Donald Trump på $2 miljarder för UAE affärer…

A shareholder of stablecoin issuer Circle filed a derivative lawsuit on the company's behalf on 22 October 2026 in the US District Court for the District of Columbia against Donald Trump, World Liberty Financial, US envoy Steve Witkoff and related companies. The complaint alleges that two UAE-linked deals – a $500 million purchase of a 49% stake in World Liberty and the Abu Dhabi fund MGX's $2 billion investment in Binance settled in World Liberty's USD1 stablecoin – violated the US Constitution's Foreign Emoluments Clause and diverted business from Circle's USDC. These are allegations in a lawsuit, and no court has ruled on them.
