Almeland (V) asks the finance minister what it would take to pay salaries partly in bitcoin

Original title (Norwegian): Skriftlig spørsmål fra Grunde Almeland (V) til finansministeren (15:406)

In written question 15:406 (2026–2027), sent on 29 October 2026, Grunde Almeland (Liberal Party, V) asks the finance minister which laws and regulations would have to change for employees to be able to receive part of their salary in bitcoin or other currencies on the same tax terms as salary in kroner, and whether a limited pilot, for example on Svalbard, could be run without such changes. In his reasoning, Almeland writes that more than 10 percent of Norwegians over 16 own digital assets, citing a Norges Bank survey, and that the payment service Revolut has over 500,000 registered users in Norway. The answer is still pending, and Nordic Crypto will follow up when it comes. Disclosure: the question mentions Bitcoinpolitisk institutt (BPI); Nordic Crypto's publisher, Jørgen S. Notland, has promoted a BPI referral campaign.
